My passion is to combine disciplines to solve environmental challenges, especially in the context of ecosystem restoration and ecological engineering. I love learning from archaeologists, paleolimnologists, economists or theoreticians in my research endeavors. My background is in Natural Resource Engineering and Forestry (Universidad Politecnica de Madrid). I did my PhD at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) on wetland engineering. Then I moved to UC Berkeley for a postdoc at the Integrative Biology Department with Mary Power. I was later awarded the Jasper Ridge Restoration Fellowship at Stanford University and then spent one year at the French National Research Council (CNRS) before I was awarded a tenure-track Ikerbasque Research Fellowship. In 2019, I was tenured as an Ikerbasque Associate Researcher, position that I still hold. In 2020, I joined the Department of Landscape Architecture with an affiliation to the Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University.

I am an agronomist, MSc. in Plant Genetic Resources and PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding. I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo (Brazil), Department of Genetics, linked to the Conservation Genetics and Genomics Group. I have experience and research collaborations with national (Brazil) and international organizations (Italy, French Guyana, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, United States and England); and I have integrated a network of 29 institutions, governmental and non-governmental, from Brazil and Uruguay, for research projects and germplasm collection involving 5 biomes from South America. I am working in the following areas: i) Plant Genetics and Genomics; ii) Evolutionary Biology; iii) Ethnobotany; iv) Plant Genetic Resources Conservation; v) Evolution and Plant Domestication; vi) Traditional and Family Agriculture.

I am an interdisciplinary designer and creative technologist who works across multiple scales in both natural and built environments. As a first year DDes at Harvard GSD, my research leverages digital fabrication, tunable material and applied ecology for the remediation of post-industrial landscapes. I’m a graduate of the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where I worked in the Mediated Matter group with Neri Oxman to produce bio-fabricated structures exhibited in MoMa, SFMoMA and the Cooper Hewitt. I received his Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University with a Goodwin Sands thesis prize and Eidlitz Fellowship. I have held teaching positions at UC Berkeley, Woodbury University and the Boston Architectural College. Additionally, I co-taught design-build studios at AHO during his Fulbright Fellowship in Oslo. Previously, I have worked for design firms such as Snøhetta in SF, Only If in NYC, and Miniwiz in Taipei as well as in creative roles at NASA JPL in LA, and OPT Industries in Cambridge.
