I am always open to new research ideas coming from undergrad, grad students and postdocs. If you have an interesting idea fitting broadly with our overall perspective on ecosystem recovery, restoration and ecological engineering, you may want to join us. I offer students a broad base on ecology, restoration science, ecological engineering and environmental management and policy. Also, continuous support to develop their research, help to develop the required analytical, experimental and writing skills, and connections to build their research networks.

What I best want from students and postdocs is motivation, grades may be required to apply for public calls, but enthusiasm, energy, and critical thinking are essential mind tools to achieve great outcomes from research. If you think you have them, this may be a good place for you.

Funding for DPhil studies and postdocs is usually dependent on calls from departments, school, national and regional governments or private foundations in the UK and elsewhere. We will help you in your search to fund your research. For prospective DPhil students, a good way to start is looking at the NERC funded programs in Oxford (ILESLA and Intelligent Earth). We also have our own Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in Geography and the Environment that in most cases requires external funding.
