I am a restoration ecologist and I am originally from Bolivia. While most of my experience has been in tropical forests, I am now excited to learn more about temperate forests at the Ecosystem Recovery lab. My doctoral dissertation focused on evaluating the effectiveness of active versus passive restoration at recovering dead wood carbon, insect communities, and insect-mediated dead wood decomposition functions in southern Costa Rica. My main goal as a restoration ecologist is to contribute to the creation of cost-effective, practical restoration strategies that can be implemented by local communities and governments to recover forest diversity and basic ecosystem services in temperate and tropical ecosystems.
